According to The Sun, Arsenal are edging closer to signing Borussia Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The report claims that the Armenia international has already told his friends that he is ready to leave Dortmund, and that the midfielder has begun house hunting in London ahead of a potential switch.
Mkhitaryan has become a key figure at the Westfalonstadion over the past few years, and this season he is arguably having his best campaign in Dortmund colours in terms of goals and assists.
The 27-year-old has made 27 Bundesliga appearances this season, scoring 10 goals and providing 12 assists.
His latest performance during Dortmund’s 3-2 win over Werder Bremen saw him pick up the Man of the Match award, and it was justly rewarded following two excellent assists.
Capable of playing in a range of midfield positions, Mkhitaryan plays his best football on the right hand side of an attacking three and this is a position Arsenal could strengthen this summer.
The Sun go on to say that the Dortmund man will command a wage of at least £8 million per year, a figure which hasn’t frightened off Arsene Wenger as he dreams of paring him alongside Mesut Ozil.
Juventus and Liverpool are also said to be keen, but it appears tat Arsenal are leading the pursuit and could find a deal easier to complete with the player’s contract in Dortmund set to expire the following summer.
