The Serbian scored twice but Newcastle United still lost.
Newcastle United are now looking likely to drop down to the Championship next season after a 3-2 defeat against relegation rivals Norwich City at Carrow Road.
A late goal from left-back Martin Olsson gave The Canaries the win and Newcastle now look dead and buried.
This was despite another good performance from Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic. He scored twice to continue his good recent scoring run but unfortunately for Newcastle United fans – he did not start the game.
Rafa Benitez instead decided to start Papiss Cisse and in hindsight it was probably a mistake from the Spaniard.
One photo that summed up the feeling after the game involved the Serbian striker.
Mitrovic, a summer signing from Anderlecht, sat deflated in the middle of the Carrow Road pitch after the game clearly devastated at the final result.
Mitrovic has become something of a fan favourite at Newcastle despite his tough first season with the club but he appears to have found his form in recent times.
If Newcastle are relegated, then keeping hold of Mitrovic might have to be one of their major priorities in the summer.
