Nottingham Forest’s Eric Lichaj had an afternoon to forget as his dismissal topped off a truly awful day for the full-back as his side were crushed 3-0 by struggling Brentford at the City Ground.
The Reds headed into their encounter with Brentford looking to put their slender 1-0 defeat to East Midlands rivals Derby County firmly behind them with a strong performance in-front of their own fans.
However, Forest were out of sorts from the opening whistle and their second half display will no doubt rank among their worst of the season as they suffered an embarrassing capitulation.
Lasse Vibe, Nicholas Yennaris and Sergi Canos all found the net yet Forest’s disappointing display was summed up before Brentford’s third with Lichaj topping off a shocker with a second yellow card.

As shown by the table provided by Opta, the former Aston Villa man posted very little in terms of defensive contributions as he so often found himself out of position and caught in two minds.
The USA international posted just three effective clearances and one duel won before his dismissal on 77 minutes, while his pass completion rate was a shoddy 64% - his side’s lowest outfield tally.
The defeat leaves Forest languishing in mid-table, nine points ahead of the drop zone but some 20 points behind rivals Derby and the Championship’s top six.
Owner Fawaz Al-Hawasi has already hinted at selling Forest if a decent offer comes along, and performances of the ilk will not exactly help him leave a lasting impression on the once proud club.
