Slaven Bilic comments on Enner Valencia chances of featuring for West Ham United against Crystal Palace

West Ham United are due to play Crystal Palace at Upton Park tomorrow.

Manager Slaven Bilic has admitted in the London Evening Standard that he will have to think carefully about starting Enner Valencia for West Ham United against Crystal Palace.

Valencia has only recently returned from representing Ecuador on international duty, meaning he has not been able to prepare for the fixture with the rest of his squad.

And Bilic has hinted that Valencia could be rested for the Hammers’ match tomorrow against Alan Pardew’s side.

“Some of the players have to travel back long distances,” Bilic said.

“Enner Valencia for example, plays for Ecuador and has had to come back from South America after playing two matches, against Paraguay and Colombia.

“He could well feel some jet lag after returning to London and I will have to think carefully about him and others before we name the team.”

Valencia played in both of Ecuador’s World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Colombia.

Ecuador drew 1-1 with Paraguay, with Valencia getting on the scoresheet, before losing 3-1 to Colombia on Tuesday evening.

Valencia’s focus will now return to West Ham, as he looks to help the side break into the top four in the Premier League.

Valencia has scored five times in 18 matches for the Hammers so far this season, and he is regarded as one of their most dangerous attacking threats.
