Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told BBC Sport (19:51) that Dejan Lovren was brilliant against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening.
Lovren started the game and played for the entire 90 minutes, and Klopp was impressed with the display of the 26-year-old central defender.
The Liverpool boss, though, has admitted that his players did switch off on occasions.
“We switched off in moments,” Klopp told BBC Sport (19:51). “Nathaniel Clyne thought the ball was out and Dejan Lovren – who had a brilliant game – was not close enough for the goal. It was an open and wild game with two teams with a good attitude.”
Over the course of the 90 minutes at Anfield on Saturday evening, Lovren had a pass accuracy of 68%, won 33% of his tackles and 67% of his headers, and made three interceptions, 10 clearances and five blocks.
Liverpool had a pass accuracy of 42%, took 15 shots of which seven were on target, and won 12 corners.
The Merseyside outfit are ninth in the Premier League table at the moment with 45 points from 30 matches. The Reds will take on Stoke City at Anfield in their next league match.
