West Ham may have felt hard done by against Crystal Palace but there was more joy during Mark Noble's Testimonial.
And he admits it's 'so sad' that West Ham lost the forward so early to injury.
The east London club drew 2-2 with Crystal Palace but, speaking before the game, there was a more positive note from the co-owner.
Gold told the West Ham site in his From the Boardroom column: "It was fantastic entertainment and the fans loved it. It was an extraordinary goal from Dean Ashton and showed the talents of the man. It was pure genius.
"It is so sad that we lost a player of his ability so early in his career through injury but he is a legend with the supporters and deserved all the praise he got on the day."
As for Saturday, the Hammers were leading against Crystal Palace and once again felt hard done by when it comes to refereeing decisions.
West Ham can still make the top four and win the FA Cup. But they've certainly been unlucky with referees - and injuries - during one of their finest seasons in recent memory.
