Norwich got the better of fellow relegation candidates Newcastle 3-2 at home in the Premier League.
The Magpies looked set to earn a valuable point on the road, but Martin Olsson scored in the third minute of injury time for the home team.
Pacheco, who is now on loan at Alaves from Real Betis, played for Norwich on loan from Liverpool in 2011.
The 25-year-old Spaniard, who can play as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, was following the match, and he was delighted with the win for the Canaries.
Well done canaries. Big step to stay where you deserve. OTBC— Daniel Pacheco (@dani37pacheco) April 2, 2016
The win against Newcastle means that Norwich are now 17th in the Premier League table with 31 points from 32 matches.
The Canaries are four points above third-from-bottom Sunderland, although they do have played a game more than the Black Cats.
