The Crystal Palace manager believes the club cannot afford to concede free-kicks.

West Ham United summer signing Dimitri Payet has certainly been one of the stars of the current Premier League season.

The Frenchman has been a constant thorn in the side of opposing players and his excellent form has even seen him receive a recall to the French national team.

He marked his comeback this week with a fantastic goal with something that is becoming something of a trademark – a stunning free-kick.

He netted against Russia with a goal that was remarkably similar to the one he recently fired home against Manchester United in the FA Cup.

It has even got Crystal Palace boss, and former West Ham manager, Alan Pardew warning his players not to give Payet a chance by giving away free-kicks in shooting range when the two teams meet this weekend.

West Ham co-chairman David Gold was obviously pleased to hear of the fear factor Payet was spreading. He tweeted this message earlier today regarding Pardew’s plans:

Palace, who are in danger of being dragged into the relegation fight, can try all they can to stop Payet this weekend.

But the way he is playing, it may be a futile exercise.
