Tottenham boss reacts to Sir Alex Ferguson's comments

Mauricio Pochettino values Sir Alex Ferguson's comments on midfielder Dele Alli.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino has welcomed comments from Sir Alex Ferguson praising midfielder Dele Alli, The Telegraph report.

In an interview with SkySports, Ferguson hailed the progress of Tottenham this season, and picked out Alli as the best player since former England man Paul Gascoigne.

He said: "He is probably the best young midfielder I have seen in many years, probably going back as far as Gascoigne.”

The more you think about it, the more impressive Ferguson's praise is.

The time span referred to includes Steven Gerrard's career, and even more notably, a player Ferguson worked with first hand, Paul Scholes.

Pochettino was glad to hear of Ferguson's comments, telling his press conference: "It’s very good praise from one of the best managers in football history.

"I can only agree with him."

The comments do little to calm the hype surrounding the Tottenham teenager, but Alli has so far shown he is capable pof rising to every test put in front of him.

Already the £5 million Spurs paid MK Dons looks like a steal, with Premier League sides up and down the country kicking themselves for not making the move.
