Liverpool scouting everywhere for new players insists Jurgen Klopp

Jürgen Klopp thinking

The Reds have been heavily linked with Mario Gotze and several other Bundesliga stars.

Liverpool are scouting all over in their search for new players, not just Germany, manager Jurgen Klopp has insisted to Sport 1.

The Reds are expected to be busy in the summer transfer window as the German looks to mould the squad he inherited in his image.

They have already secured the signing of Joel Matip from Schalke, while midfielder Marko Grujic is set to return having signed in January.

There are rumours linking them with Mario Gotze of Bayern Munich, as well as several other Bundesliga stars.

Klopp though, insists that it is the quality of the player that is most important not where he comes from.

“We watch in Germany, the fact is that Liverpool has become more interesting for German players through me,” he told Sport 1.

"We will not sign a player because he is German. That would be nonsense. We are looking not only in the Bundesliga.”

"We are really global at the start, but it is much more important not where the player comes from, but that it is the right player for us."

Who the Reds can attract to the club will surely depend on where they finish this season.

They currently sit ninth in the Premier League, seven points away from Manchester City but have a game in hand over Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

A top four place, and the Champions League place that comes with it, could be within their grasp as the season draws to a close.

They will need a perfect run of form to do that though, starting with Tottenham Hotspur, who they host in Saturday’s evening kick off.
