Celtic star Nir Bitton shares how he would respond if Arsenal wanted him

Nir Bitton has admitted that Yossi Benayoun is his inspiration.

Celtic midfielder Nir Bitton has told The Scottish Sun that he would like a move to the Premier League one day - and would be particularly keen on signing for Arsenal.

Bitton, 24, arrived at Celtic from FC Ashdod in his native Israel back in the summer of 2013, essentially to serve as a replacement for Victor Wanyama, who had been sold on to Southampton just weeks earlier.

After a slow start to life in Scotland under former boss Neil Lennon, anchorman Bitton has now become a key player for Celtic under Ronny Deila, making one of the Bhoys' two holding midfield roles his own.

With size and power at 6ft 5in, Bitton can break up play, whilst his composure in possession allows him to build attacks, and he can also shoot from range, making him a well-rounded defensive midfielder - and many believe he could end up following his predecessor Wanyama to the Premier League.

Now, Bitton has been quoted by The Scottish Sun as saying that one day, he would love to move to the Premier League - and specifically mentioned that he would find it hard to say no to signing for Arsenal.

Bitton also claims that his compatriot Yossi Benayoun - who played for the likes of West Ham, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal during a successful Premier League career - is his inspiration, again explaining why he wants to follow in his footsteps and earn a move to England in the future.

"If I got an offer to play in a team in England who were at the bottom of the table, it would be better for me to stay at Celtic," said Bitton. "That style of play wouldn’t suit me. But no player from Israel could say no to Arsenal, it doesn’t matter if I would just be sitting on the bench or not. I don’t think any player who comes from a country such as ours could possibly turn down that opportunity."

"Yossi Benayoun played for three top Premier League teams and was a top player. He is my inspiration. In every interview I do I say I don’t want to leave Celtic because I really enjoy it there. But every player has ambitions to play in the top leagues in Europe and I won’t lie...I want to go there," he added.

Do you think Bitton is good enough to play for Arsenal?
