Ben Davies wants Tottenham to use earlier game to put pressure on league leaders Leicester City

Spurs play Liverpool on Saturday while Leicester host Southampton the next day.

Ben Davies has encouraged his Tottenham teammates to use their earlier kick-off to pile the pressure on Premier League leaders Leicester City, The Sun reports.

Mauricio Pochettino's men travel to Liverpool on Saturday evening while the Foxes host Southampton on Sunday, which means that by the time Claudio Ranieri's side take to the field, their advantage could be down to just two points.

And the 22-year-old has insisted that it is time for the challengers to put their foot on the accelerator, and test what the pace-setters are actually made of.

"This is where the pressure starts to build coming down to the final few games and hopefully we can start that on Saturday," The Sun reports.

"We play a day earlier so we can put the pressure on. We have a big couple of games coming up now. These games are where champions are made. We need to get points out of those games."

While Leicester will obviously go into their game with a game in hand, Spurs beating the Reds the day before will surely create a bit of tension as they will know that slipping up against Ronald Koeman's men means that their rivals could potentially go above them as soon as the week after if results go against them once again.

However, should Tottenham slip up on Merseyside, Leicester may go into their game knowing that they have the opportunity to move eight points clear. And as their cushion would already be substantial, they may play with the same freedom that has seen them confound everyone all season which will surely help their cause, hence why Davies is so keen for Spurs to take advantage of the fixture scheduling and ramp up their title charge this weekend.
