Neil Warnock predicts the reception he will get from Leeds United fans, comments on Steve Evans

New York Stadium sign, Rotherham

The Rotherham United boss has been discussing his former club ahead of a Yorkshire

This weekend will see Leeds United travel to Rotherham United to take on Steve Evans' former club in the Championship.

Of course the Millers dugout will also be occupied by a former Leeds boss.

Neil Warnock has led the club on a charge up the league table since taking over from another ex-Leeds boss in Neil Redfearn and goes into this game full of confidence of getting a result against his former club.

It would be fair to say that Warnock never truly won over the Leeds United fans during his Elland Road stint.

Speaking to talkSPORT on Wednesday (30/03/16) the Rotherham boss made it clear that he was expecting a rough reception from the travelling support:

“It will be a cracking game. It is a massive club is Leeds.

“I’m looking forward to the game now. Yes, I’ll get pelters but it’ll be a cracking atmosphere.

“Full house! It’s already sold out. They’ve not sold out as early since they had the stadium so it is a great accolade for the club that they are all organised and ready for it."

But he also spoke about the reception that Evans might receive, suggesting he would be in for a rough ride as well – despite his success at the New York Stadium:

“It will be close (between who gets more stick from fans).

“You know Steve he is what he is. But he’s done well.

“He took Rotherham up so they owe him as well.

“I think it is just a matter of both managers wanting the result on the day really, for different reasons.”

The atmosphere at Rotherham is certainly going to be fascinating and both managers will not be expecting to be overly popular.

Leeds fans will just be hoping their team can get back to winning ways after the shocking home defeat v Huddersfield Town and do some damage to Warnock’s survival hopes.
