Martinez is expected to complete a move West Ham in the near future, after impressing the club’s scouts.
The 18-year-old has scored with great frequency for Valencia’s youth sides, and Bilic is excited about the youngster’s potential.
“With Toni Martinez at Valencia, we are quite close,” Bilic said. “Terry Westley with the U21s does a great job, and if we finish [the deal], we will have one of the brightest young players from Valencia.”
Martinez is set to earn a massive pay rise by moving to West Ham, according to the Mirror, but his arrival does signify the progress that the London club are making.
The young forward was regarded as one of the finest talents in Spain, and his addition is quite a coup for the Hammers.
If Martinez does join, as expected, he will join an exciting group of youngsters at the club, which includes the likes of Reece Oxford and Martin Samuelsen.
West Ham have also been heavily linked with Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony and PSG front man Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Daily Mirror), but Bilic refused to be drawn on these links.
“All the other rumours are all speculation at the moment,” he added.
