Report: Aston Villa wanted David Moyes earlier this season

Aston Villa are on the hunt for a new manager following the dismissal of Remi Garde earlier this week.

According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Aston Villa wanted to appoint David Moyes earlier in the season, but were put off by his demands.

Villa’s form has been poor throughout the campaign, and they turned to Moyes to save them earlier in the year.

However, the Scottish boss told them that he would require £40 million to spend if he was to keep them in the Premier League.

Villa were, understandably, not keen to offer Moyes these sort of funds and decided against offering him the job.

The Claret and Blues ended up spending no money in January, and their failure to invest has proven very costly.

Villa now looked doomed, with the Midlands side currently sitting rock bottom of the Premier League table.

The Villains recently parted company with manager Remi Garde, and they could now turn to Moyes again.

Moyes reportedly would be willing to manage Villa in the Championship, and he is one of the favourites to take over at Villa Park.
