Lamela, Dier and Alderweireld will be key for Tottenham against Liverpool

Taking a look at three Tottenham Hotspur players who could make all the difference this weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur travel to Anfield this weekend to take on Liverpool in what is a massive match for both sides.

Spurs can move to within two points of Premier League leaders Leicester City with a victory while Liverpool will not have given up hope of a top-five finish.

While Tottenham have enjoyed a superb campaign to date, Liverpool are a different beast under new manager Jurgen Klopp and he has already proved he can inspire victories against England’s top clubs this season.

Here we take a look at three Tottenham players who will be vital if they are to leave Merseyside with all three points.

Eric Dier

Liverpool’s attack is one of the most fluid in the top flight and it will be up to Dier to ensure their midfielders do not burst forward and cause problems for Spurs’ back-line.

The former Sporting Lisbon man proved what a class act he is for England against Germany earlier this month and he may have to replicate his best form to keep Liverpool at bay.

Toby Alderweireld

Tottenham’s defence has been impressive this season, due in no small part to the arrival of Toby Alderweireld.

He will have to keep a close eye not only on Daniel Sturridge but also Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana who will all be looking for gaps in the visitors’ defence.

Erik Lamela

Tottenham’s best chance of scoring on Saturday could be on the counter-attack and if Erik Lamela starts he will be Mauricio Pochettino’s best weapon in that regard.

The Argentine has already scored nine goals and provided six assists this season and his pace and trickery could be vital this weekend.
