Jamie Redknapp predicts Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur tie, admits he thought Spurs would not make top four

Spurs can close the gap on Leicester City with a win v Liverpool on Saturday.

Tottenham Hotspur take on Liverpool in a massive game in the Premier League this weekend.

Spurs are in need of a win to keep up their hunt for the Premier League title. However, getting a result at Anfield will not be easy for the club.

But one former Spurs player turned pundit believes Tottenham will get the win.

Jamie Redknapp, who also played at Liverpool, told talkSPORT on Wednesday morning (30/03/16) that he feels Spurs will become title favourites this weekend, much to his surprise:

“If Tottenham go there and get three points they really have to start having to believe. It puts pressure on Leicester on Sunday. I think they can go there (Anfield) and get a result.

“They are playing so well at the moment and are full of confidence.

“What Pochettino has done there is phenomenal because, I have to be honest, I didn’t have them in the equation this year. I thought they would struggle to get in the top four.

“They just look so powerful at the moment. It’s the sort of result, if they go to Liverpool and win, I think they might just go favourites then. That really puts the pressure on Leicester.”

The Sky Sports pundit is certainly not the only former player to have believed Tottenham might fall short of the top four this season.

But the emergence of players such as Eric Dier, Dele Alli and Danny Rose as real stars and the shrewd signing of Toby Alderweireld combined with the continued improvement of Harry Kane, Erik Lamela and Kyle Walker has seen Spurs in great form.

That coupled with the failures of Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and even Everton to put together a serious challenge for the top four has seen Spurs take the initiative. It might even end up with a shock title triumph.
