Payet Skill

The Hammers star netted from fully 30 yards just minutes after coming on as a substitute.

West Ham United star Dimitri Payet turned 29 on Tuesday, and he marked his birthday in some style for France in their international friendly against Russia.

After impressing in a starting role against the Netherlands on Friday night, the midfielder was relegated to the substitutes' bench as head coach Didier Deschamps continues to explore his options ahead of Euro 2016.

What looks certain, however, is that there is no better option for Les Blues from a set-pieces than Payet, who has already built a reputation in his debut season in England for produced stunning moments of quality from a dead ball situation.

The star scored a fine free-kick in the FA Cup quarter-final draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford earlier this month, as well as netting a similar strike against Blackburn Rovers in an earlier round.

However, on Tuesday he marked his special day with probably the best of the lot, lining up two minutes after entering the action and curling a stunning strike home from fully 30 yards to put France 3-1 up on the night.

Unsurprisingly, Twitter promptly exploded with appreciation for the birthday boy's effort, which came after Leicester City's midfielder N'Golo Kante, who shares Payet's birthday, had also found the net.

Here is some of the best of the reaction to Payet's stunning strike.
