According to GianlucadiMarzio, Arsenal are very interested in signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The Italian report claims that Juventus are eyeing up a move for the Borussia Dortmund midfielder, but they face competition from the Gunners who are said be extremely keen on bringing him to the Emirates Stadium.
The Armenia international has been with Dortmund for three seasons, joining the Bundesliga giants on a four-year deal from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer of 2013.
He has become a key figure at the Westfalonstadion, playing in an advanced midfield role and chipping in with a number of important goals in a similar mould to former Chelsea player Frank Lampard.
Mkhitaryan has 20 goals in all competitions this season, his best campaign yet in a career that has seen him win multiple trophies with Shakhtar and named Armenia’s Player of the Year five times.
Arsenal have plenty of talent in the attacking third, although this season they have arguably lacked goals from midfield with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil scoring only a combined 12 league goals.
With the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Theo Walcott, Joel Campbell and Aaron Ramsey also struggling for goals, it has left a huge burden on striker Olivier Giroud to find the net with regularity.
It is certainly an area that manager Arsene Wenger should consider improving this summer, and Mkhitaryan represents a fine option as he is set to enter the final 12 months of his contract with Dortmund.
