Stan Collymore has criticised Everton defenders Phil Jagielka and John Stones on social media site Twitter, after England’s match against Holland last night.
England were beaten 2-1 by the Dutch at Wembley yesterday, and neither Jagielka or Stones aided their causes to start at EURO 2016 with their performances.
Stones’ display was an erratic one, with some excellent play mixed in with some risky moments, while Jagielka struggled after being brought on as a substitute.
And Collymore says that the Everton pair’s performances will come as no shock to Toffees fans, as they have been putting in displays like that all campaign at club level.
Not a great night for Everton central defenders to be fair.— Stan Collymore (@StanCollymore) March 29, 2016
Consistent with club form I’m sure Toffees will agree.@talkSPORT ON AIR LIVE
Stones was partly at fault for the first goal which England conceded, as he slipped in a dangerous area and gave possession away - which led to the award of a penalty.
Jagielka was then turned for Holland’s second goal, although it did look as if the experienced defender’s was fouled.
Stones and Jagielka have both have question marks raised over their form this season, while with Everton.
