Micky Hazard says this is where Ross Barkley lets himself down

The Everton star attracted constructive criticism from Spurs legend Micky Hazard.

Tottenham Hotspur legend Micky Hazard has acknowledged that Everton star Ross Barkley is a "super talent", but believes that the England midfielder is too slow to make a decision.

The highly-rated Toffees ace played the full 90 minutes at Wembley on Tuesday night as the Three Lions lost 2-1 at home to the Netherlands in a friendly.

The 22-year-old has emerged as one of the most exciting young English talents in recent years, but Hazard, who spent a total of nine years at White Hart Lane, feels that Barkley could do with upping the tempo in his passing before moving to the next level.

At club level, there can be little complaint over Barkley, who has netted 12 times and bagged 10 assists in all competitions for the Merseyside outift this season.

He has not provided any of either on the Premier League stage in coming up on two months, though he has been a driving force in the FA Cup and that, for manager Robert Martinez, is more important right now.

The Toffees have nothing to play for in the league, but an FA Cup semi-final with West Ham United or Manchester United awaits them next month, and Martinez will need Barkley at his scintillating best when he returns to Wembley.
