Everton and Liverpool could be set to battle it out for the signature of Fenerbahce full-back Caner Erkin, with the Daily Express reporting that Inter Milan have ended their pursuit of the Turkish international
The Nerazzurri looked to have been leading the chase for the 27-year-old and were even rumoured to have signed a pre-agreement.
Those claims have reportedly been denied by the player's agent, although Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo has since reported that Everton and Liverpool are still interested in Erkin, suggesting both Merseyside clubs have both begun talks.
Erkin started both of Turkey's recent international friendlies against Austria and Sweden, both of which saw the Crescent-Stars run out 2-1 winners, stretching their unbeaten run to 13 games in all competitions.
Everton reportedly sent scouts to watch Erkin in Tuesday's game, with reports in Salzburg suggesting they were joined by representatives from Stoke City, Sunderland and Leicester City, as well as a number of other European clubs.
