Former Everton midfielder Don Hutchison has taken to Twitter to suggest that Toffees defender John Stones should keep on playing out from the back.
Known for his confidence in possession to dribble and pass out from the back, Stones is the epitome of the modern-day centre back; he can start attacks from the back, whilst also being able to read the game well.
However, Stones has come in for stern criticism over the last six months, as some believe he is taking too many risks in front of his own goal, leading to some terrible errors.
Stones started for England against Netherlands on Tuesday night, but his performance was again criticised after a slip allowed the Dutch to win a penalty and score the equalising goal at Wembley.
His position in the starting line-up at Euro 2016 is now in doubt, but former Everton midfielder Don Hutchison had words of support for the centre back.
Hutchison took to Twitter to suggest that Stones should be told to carry on playing out from the back rather than change his playing style, and predicts that Manchester City's manager-to-be Pep Guardiola will be keen on signing Stones this summer.
My last one on Stones.— Don Hutchison (@donhutch4) March 29, 2016
If I were his coach I would tell the boy to keep on playing.
That’s why Pep will have a sniff of him in the summer.
Do you think Stones needs to change his ways?
