The Spurs youngster started the Under-21s' fixture against Huddersfield on Tuesday.
Hayford, a midfielder, started the Owls' Under-21s' 1-0 defeat of Huddersfield Town at Middlewood Road on Tuesday.
The 18-year-old is out of contract this summer and appears to have begun his search for a new club early - no doubt with Spurs' blessing.
Watford-born Hayford signed for the Lilywhites in 2014 but endured an injury-disrupted first season at White Hart Lane.
In his academy profile on Spurs' website, Hayford explains that he used to be a winger before switching to a more central role upon his arrival at the club.
Hayford was joined in Wednesday's line-up by two more Premier League youngsters, in Manchester City's Sam Tattum, 19, and Chelsea's Kevin Wright, 20, who was on target for the hosts after England Under-17s' George Hirst had missed a penalty.
Right-back Tattum, a Wales Under-19 international, turned out for the Owls' Development Squad against QPR earlier this month, but this was Wright's first appearance on the opposite flank.
According to Transfermarkt, Wright is also out of contract this summer, while Tattum has another two years to run on his deal at the Etihad Stadium.
