Mario Gotze is claimed to be keen on a Liverpool move.

Speculation is mounting that German international Mario Gotze could make a stunning transfer to Liverpool this summer.

The Guardian report that Liverpool are increasingly confident of signing the attacker, with the 23-year-old also interested in joining the Reds.

He played under Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp at Borussia Dortmund, and has struggled to establish himself as a regular at Bayern Munich under Pep Guardiola.

The Spaniard will depart this summer to be replaced by Carlo Ancelotti, but a fresh start could be Gotze's preferred option.

For Liverpool, signing Gotze would be a major statement of intent, and kickstart Jurgen Klopp's first summer transfer window at the club.

The World Cup winner is the sort of player who would help attract further big names, and if there is one manager who knows how to get the best out of him then it is Klopp.

Right now, optimism among Liverpool fans has been officially raised, but others are fearful this could be another high profile failure.

Here is a look at the reaction on Twitter to the Gotze reports...
