Mario Gotze loves a goal for Germany, even if he may never replicate the high of his dramatic World Cup final winner in 2014.
He was on the scoresheet again last night though, netting from a header as he surprisingly out leaped the Italian defence to head home from close range.
He did so in front of his home crowd at the Allianz Arena, where he has spent much of the time for Bayern Munich on the bench as of late.
Over the past 48 hours speculation has been mounting linking Gotze with a summer transfer to Liverpool, where he would rejoin his former Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp.
The Guardian reported this week that Liverpool are confident of a deal being done, with the attacker claimed to be keen on a move.
Seeing him find the net against Italy only has Liverpool fans even more excited at the prospect of signing him up, providing the club can get the deal over the line.
Full-back Jonas Hector, also linked with the Reds, was on the scoresheet, with Mesut Ozil netting another in a comprehensive win for the Germans.

The Germany game is actually just a game of FIFA that is being played by Klopp. Both Gotze and Hector have scored #LFC
