Erik Sviatchenko praises Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths

Leigh Griffiths has scored 35 goals for Celtic so far this season.

Erik Sviatchenko has told the Glasgow Evening Times that he is convinced that Leigh Griffiths can become a prolific scorer at international level.

Sviatchenko is tasked with marking Griffiths on a daily basis in Celtic training, and the Danish defender has seen enough from the 25-year-old striker to be impressed.

Sviatchenko says that Griffiths has all the ability required to be a frequent scorer on the international stage, and he has praised the striker’s consistency.

"I see him every day in training and I am certain he can take that next step,” Sviatchenko said.

"He is still 25 so he's a young player, But, at this stage, to score that many goals and be so consistent, these are good signs."

Sviatchenko will be hoping to stop Griffiths from scoring later this evening, as he is likely to line up for Denmark in their friendly against Scotland at Hampden Park.

Griffiths has made six appearances for his country so far, but he is yet to hit the back of the net.

The striker has been in wonderful form in the Scottish Premiership this season, though, and he should go into his country’s match tonight full of confidence.

Griffiths has netted a staggering 35 goals for Celtic in all competition this term, and he has fully established his place as Ronny Deila’s most influential attacking player.
