The striker has once again spent the majority of the season on the side-lines as he fought his way back from a number of niggling injuries.
However he is back fit and firing and he has impressed since returning to the Liverpool first-team with a series of impressive performances.
His displays have earned him a return to the England set up as manager Roy Hodgson assesses his options ahead of Euro 2016 this summer. And Milner says that his Reds teammate's sharpness since his return has been frightening to witness.
“It’s frightening really when you see him come back and the first day and he’s turning people inside out,” he told a press conference, reported on by ESPN.
“His sharpness is ridiculous really; he’s got so much ability. He’s another number and another problem for the manager.
“The quality we’ve got in that striking position is maybe something we haven’t had over the last few years. Ultimately goals win you tournaments.”
Even with Sturridge impressing now he is fit again, he faces a fight to make it into England’s starting 11 in France this summer.
Instead, top of the pecking order should be Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy, with both topping the Premier League goal-scoring charts.
Both players shone in the recent 3-2 win over Germany as they each grabbed impressive goals against the world champions to further hamper Sturridge’s chances.
