Balague says Pochettino should be considered as next England boss

Three Lions close

The Tottenham Hotspur manager is working wonders at the club.

Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has tipped Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino to take over as England manager in the future.

The Argentine is currently working wonders at White Hart Lane and he has played his part when it comes to the Three Lions by allowing the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Eric Dier and Danny Rose to shine.

England are set to benefit from that quartet’s sky-high confidence at Euro 2016 and Balague suggested Pochettino could one day be working with them in a very different role.

Writing on Twitter on Tuesday morning, the Spaniard responded when asked if what the Tottenham boss was doing in north London was having a massive impact on the national team.

“I think more,” Balague wrote. “I think he should be considered for the England post after Roy (Hodgson).”

It remains to be seen if Pochettino would want to swap club management for a stint on the international stage any time soon. Then there is the fact that he is on the verge of something truly brilliant at Tottenham, both domestically and potentially in Europe.

That said he has certainly proved he can get the best out of young English players and the FA would be foolish not to at least consider him when the time is right.
