Reports claim Tottenham are eyeing Mateo Kovacic.
Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Real Madrid's Mateo Kovacic, according to reports in Spain and Italy.
Spanish newspaper AS and Italian outlet Calciomercato both report that Spurs are keen on the attacking midfielder, who is still in his first season at Madrid.
Kovacic was a surprise signing by the La Liga giants last August, leaving Inter Milan after an inconsistent two year spell.
Forcing his way into Real's side has been just as as tough for the 21-year-old, he has made only seven La Liga starts, with 14 appearances from the bench.
He has struggled for form as a result, scoring no goals, and providing just two assists, with one red card to his name, although he did score once in the Champions League group stages.
He was a Rafa Benitez signing and it would not be surprising to see him move on this summer, with AS reporting Sevilla are also interested along with Spurs.
The Croatian needs a club where he can play regularly, but whether that would be at Tottenham is another matter.
His all round game is not good enough or productive enough to usurp Christian Eriksen in a more forward role, while it is unlikely he would be able to displace Mousa Dembele or Dele Alli deeper in midfield.
This would leave him competing for a spot out wide, which is not really his natural position, and it would be a surprise if this was a deal Tottenham pushed through.
