Cobh Ramblers deny unlikely move for Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini

The Chilean was spotted in Cork during the international break, but the Irish club cheekily denied he is about to take over.

League of Ireland side Cobh Ramblers have denied making an audacious move for outgoing Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini.

As reported by, the Chilean, who is to be replaced at the Etihad by Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola in the summer, was photographed in Cork on Sunday by fans during the international break.

But any hopes of Pellegrini making an unlikely move to take over the hot seat of the Ramblers – currently seventh in the SSE Airtricity First Division – were dashed by the club, who took to Twitter to distance themselves from the rumours.

And while neighbouring Cork City have so far declined to make an official statement, a fan account from the club has backed current boss John Caulfield.

Speculation surrounding Pellegrini’s future is likely to build over the next few weeks, with Premier League rivals Chelsea the latest name to be mentioned, despite Italy boss Antonio Conte remaining the favourite to take over at Stamford Bridge.
