Former Newcastle United forward Micky Quinn predicted on the Weekend Brekkie show on talkSPORT on Sunday morning (broadcast from 7am, March 27) that players will leave Everton in the summer transfer window.
“There will be players leaving Everton, I think, if there is no European football next season,” said Quinn. “They all won’t leave, but I think one of them will leave, whether it’s Barkley or whether it’s Lukaku.”
Everton have some very good and promising young players, and the Merseyside could struggle to hold onto them next season.
Defender John Stones, midfielder Ross Barkley and striker Romelu Lukaku are players that many clubs could look at in the summer transfer window.
True, Everton could win the FA Cup this season, but would that be enough to convince their best assets to remain at Goodison Park for one more year?
Would the likes of Stones, Barkley and Lukaku be able to resist the temptation of joining Manchester United, Chelsea or Real Madrid?
Everton will return to action on Sunday evening when they take on United away from home at Old Trafford in the Premier League.
