Rangers forward Martyn Waghorn, who moved to Ibrox in the summer of 2015, is a former Leicester City player.

Rangers forward Martyn Waghorn has revealed to The Scottish Sun that he still has conversations with his former Leicester City teammates.

Waghorn, who moved to Rangers in the summer of 2015, was on the books of Leicester from 2010 until 2014.

The 26-year-old is happy to see Claudio Ranieri’s doing so well in the Premier League and has revealed that he is still in touch with his ex-teammates.

“I played with the likes of Riyad Mahrez, Kasper Schmeichel, Wes Morgan, Jeff Schlupp, Andy King, Danny Drinkwater and Jamie Vardy,” Waghorn told The Scottish Sun.

“I speak to some of the boys every now and then and wish them all the best. It shows consistency, work-rate and a determination to play for each other is huge in football.

“Confidence is a massive thing too and they’ve got plenty of that just now. I don’t see how they CAN’T go all the way now.”

One of Leicester’s best players so far this season has been Danny Drinkwater, who has also earned a call-up to the England national team.

Waghorn has been impressed with the 26-year-old midfielder, and believes that he deserves the recognition that he is getting at the moment.

“I’m especially pleased for Drinky,” the Englishman told The Scottish Sun. “Some of his assists, work- rate and play has gone a bit unnoticed this season. Thankfully it’s been recognised with a call-up. He’s been fantastic.”

Drinkwater has scored one goal and created 37 chances in 29 Premier League appearances for Leicester so far this season.

The former Manchester United prospect has a pass accuracy of 78% and a shot accuracy of 32%, and has won 27 headers, 24 dribbles and 56 tackles.
