Newcastle cannot move forward with these three players

Newcastle United cannot do much with Yoan Gouffran, Gabriel Obertan and Emmanuel Riviere.

Yoan Gouffran

Yoan Gouffran has been on the books of Newcastle United since 2013 and has a contract until June 2017.

The 29-year-old winger has been able to just eight appearances in the Premier League this campaign, while last season he played 31 times in the league.

The Frenchman is past his best and is simply not good enough to play for a team aiming for the top 10, which Newcastle should be if they do not get relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.

Gabriel Obertan

Gabriel Obertan has been at Newcastle since 2011 and his current contract runs out at the end of the season.

It is hard to see the former Manchester United winger getting a new deal, and it is most likely that he will leave St. James’ Park in the summer.

There have been occasions when the 27-year-old has played well, but his time at Newcastle has been largely a disappointment.

It is actually a surprise that Obertan is still at Newcastle.

Emmanuel Riviere

Emmanuel Riviere joined Newcastle in the summer of 2014 and has a contract until June 2017.

The striker has been a massive failure at St. James’ Park, having scored just once in the Premier League last season and none so far this campaign, although it must be acknowledged that there have been injury problems.

It is hard to see Riviere’s exact contribution to the current Newcastle side.
