Former Bayern Munich star Lothar Matthaus spoke highly of his German compatriot and Arsenal attacking midfielder Mesut Ozil on ITV on Saturday evening (March 26).
In the build-up to the international friendly game between Germany and England in Berlin on Saturday evening (broadcast from 7:30pm on ITV), Matthaus was asked for his opinion on Ozil.
"I think Mesut is a fantastic player," said the German. "We miss him here and he is showing in England again his quality. I think he is the same player (as he was at Real Madrid). On a good day, he can make a difference in the game."
Ozil failed to guide Germany to a win against England on Saturday evening, but that should not detract from the fact that he is a superb footballer.
The Germany international is one of the most creative players in Europe and has been brilliant for Arsenal so far this season.
The former Real Madrid star has a pass accuracy of 87% and a shot accuracy of 67%, and has won two headers, 40 dribbles and 25 tackles.
