Former Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United manager Harry Redknapp has been quoted as saying by Socceroos.com.au that Brad Smith has a bright future at Liverpool.
The Englishman made the prediction about the 21-year-old defender ahead of the World Cup qualifier between Jordan and Australia in Sydney on Tuesday.
Smith is likely to start for Australia at left-back in the Group B encounter, while Redknapp is in charge of Jordan for the match.
“They are a threat,” Redknapp is quoted as saying by Socceroos.com.au. “The fullbacks get forward, I was impressed the other night the boy [Brad] Smith I think is going to be a big player for Liverpool in the future.”
Smith has been on the books of Liverpool since 2008, but he has found his first-team opportunities at Anfield limited.
The Australia international is a talented young left-back, and he is only going to get more attention from Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp if he continues to perform well for his country.
The youngster has made just one appearance in the Premier League for the Reds so far this season, creating two chances in the process. Smith has a pass accuracy of 85%, and has won one dribble and two tackles.
Smith has played once in the Europa League for the Merseyside outfit this campaign, creating one chance in the process.
