Teddy Shering has offered his opinion on Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham legend Teddy Sheringham has told The Mirror that he is flattered by Harry Kane's admiration for him, before praising Hugo Lloris and Toby Alderweireld.

Spurs are challenging for the Premier League title right now and sit just five points behind league leaders Leicester City, but many of Mauricio Pochettino's squad have been out on international duty this week.

Pochettino's work with Tottenham's young players was on show yet again, as England beat Germany 3-2 in Berlin, as Spurs stars Harry Kane and Eric Dier both scored, whilst Danny Rose and Dele Alli also played key roles in the victory for the Three Lions.

It was Kane who impressed in attack, taking his goal superbly with a Cruyff turn before placing the ball past Manuel Neuer, as he puts himself in contention to start as England's leading striker for Euro 2016.

The 22-year-old, who has now hit 24 goals this season, has often earned comparisons to former Tottenham goalscorer Teddy Sheringham - and the ex-England international has now had his say on Kane and Spurs.

Speaking to The Mirror, Sheringham admitted that he is flattered by Kane's previous admissions that he was a fan of Sheringham, and believes Kane has everything that a top striker needs.

Sheringham also talked about Tottenham's title push, and how much he has been impressed with their defence, naming Hugo Lloris and Toby Alderweireld as vital players to their superb backline.

"He seems to have everything a striker needs," said Sheringham. "I heard he was a fan of mine when I was at Spurs. That is flattering. But I also read that he admired Alan Shearer and he has clearly introduced parts of other strikers’ game into his own. He is strong, mobile and gets goals. I love watching him play."

"But I also like the way Spurs defend. They say that, to be successful, you need a great goalkeeper and a good defence. We had that at United back in 1999, with Peter Schmeichel in goal. Spurs have Hugo Lloris and he is excellent. And, in front of him, he has Toby Alderweireld, who has been outstanding as have the rest of the Spurs defence," he added.
