According to a report in the Daily Mail, Everton have discussed signing Ajax goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen to replace Tim Howard.
Everton are looking for a new stopper in the summer, and Cillessen has cropped up on the Merseyside club’s wishlist.
However, the Toffees are reportedly unlikely to be able to land the 26-year-old, as he wants to continue playing Champions League football.
Everton are expected to invest heavily in the summer, with the backing of Farhad Moshiri, but their failure to show their true quality in the Premier League this season could prove costly.
The Toffees are currently in 12th place in England’s top flight, leaving them with little chance of qualifying for Europe - unless they are able to win the FA Cup.
Cillessen has grown accustomed to playing in the Champions League with Ajax, and apparently does not want to switch to a club without elite level European football on offer.
As a result, the Mail suggest that Everton could turn to Burnely stopper Tom Heaton instead.
