Tottenham Hotspur legend Osvaldo Ardiles has taken to social networking site Twitter to make his opinion about Everton defender John Stones perfectly clear.
The former Tottenham midfielder and manager has made it clear that he believes that the 21-year-old defender is the future of England, and that he likes him as a footballer.
What a good game for England. A very big confidence booster . It was going to be in terms of performance but now the result as well.— osvaldo ardiles (@osvaldooardiles) 26 March 2016
And our boys in the heart of it. Big congratulations for the four of them, specially @ericdier for his first goal for ENG. COYS— osvaldo ardiles (@osvaldooardiles) 26 March 2016
Concern about the CB though. Stones is my man. I think he is wonderful and he is the future.— osvaldo ardiles (@osvaldooardiles) 26 March 2016
Ardiles made the comments about Stones following England’s 3-2 comeback victory over Germany in a friendly international match in Berlin on Saturday evening.
Stones, who can play as a centre-back or as a right-back, did not start the game and was not even brought on as a substitute.
The Everton youngster is a very talented defender and is rated very highly. There have been occasions when the 21-year-old has made mistakes, but he is very good on the ball and has a lot of potential.
In 24 Premier League appearances for Everton so far this season, Stones has created four chances, has a pass accuracy of 89%, and has won 33 headers, 19 dribbles and 29 tackles.
