Ex-Tottenham midfielder makes an astonishing claim about Dier, says Championship player is better

Rohan Ricketts suggests that Hull City’s Tom Huddlestone should be ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s Eric Dier in the England pecking order.

Rohan Ricketts has claimed on social networking site Twitter that Hull City midfielder Tom Huddlestone is a better player than Tottenham Hotspur’s Eric Dier.

The former Arsenal and Tottenham attacking midfielder made the comments prior to the friendly international game between Germany and England in Berlin on Saturday evening.

Ricketts claimed that Huddlestone should have started the game for the Three Lions ahead of Dier, and suggested that the 29-year-old former Spurs midfielder is a better footballer.

It is quite an astonishing claim from Ricketts, given that Dier is playing for a team that could win the Premier League title this season while Huddlestone was let go by that very same club in the summer of 2013.

Dier, who is 22 years of age, is a versatile footballer who can play as a defensive midfielder, right-back or central defender.

Huddlestone is a good midfielder, but there is a reason why he is playing in the Championship.

During his time at Tottenham, the 29-year-old did relatively well, but he was never someone who could be considered as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
