Everton are reportedly lining up a deal to sign Michael Carrick from Manchester United.

Everton fans do not appear to be keen on the rumours suggesting that they are going to attempt to sign Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick.

The Daily Mirror have suggested that Everton could make a bid for Carrick at the end of the season.

The England international’s contract at Old Trafford expires in the summer, and he could, therefore, be available on a free transfer.

Carrick is yet to be offered a new deal by United, meaning that his future is firmly up in the air.

Everton are said to be one of the clubs who could offer the 34-year-old a new home, with Roberto Martinez reportedly keen on signing the midfielder.

However, a number of Everton fans are fearful that Carrick is past his best now and wouldn’t be what the club need to move forward.

The Toffees have expressed great ambition since receiving new investment from Farhad Moshiri, and many of their fans do not feel that Carrick’s addition would be a worthwhile one.

If Carrick does opt to leave Manchester United in the summer, he will do so having made over well over 300 appearances for the club.
