Wolverhampton Wanderers full-back Dominic Iorfa has earned praise for his performance against Switzerland yesterday.
Iorfa was selected to start for England’s under-21 side, as they drew 1-1 in an even contest with Switzerland.
Chuba Akpom scored the Three Lions’ goal, before the Swiss struck an equaliser through Florian Kamberi.
Southgate’s men’s performance in the contest was largely impressive, but few players caught the eye as much as Iorfa.
The rampaging Wolves defender was a threat going forward, and he also looked solid at the back throughout the contest.
Iorfa linked up well with Leicester City winger Demarai Gray, and social media site Twitter was awash with praise for the youngster after the game.
Hause and Iorfa both excellent for the England U21s. Unlucky not to win, hit on the break after dominating most of the game.— Johnny Gallagher (@Johnny_G2012) March 26, 2016
Great to see Iorfa and Hause getting a full 90 minutes for England U21's— Joe Farrier (@Joe_Farrier) March 26, 2016
Iorfa will be the next big money move out of Wolves if we don't start showing some ambition. Looking good for the U21s tonight— Chris Barratt (@chrismelbarratt) March 26, 2016
Dominic Iorfa has looked good going forward down the right too, they've combined well so far despite both being relatively new to the U21s.— Matt (@mattabbott_) March 26, 2016
@bmcloughlin93 He’s been great, but I’ve been really taken with Iorfa. Bossing the game as a fullback is difficult.— mynameisjohn (@mynameisjohn) March 26, 2016
Wolves' Dom Iorfa has had an excellent twenty-five minutes. He's a bit foalish, but gets in some good attacking positions from full-back.— Seb Stafford-Bloor (@SebSB) March 26, 2016
Iorfa is tipped to have a very bright future at the top level, and he is currently regarded as one of the most talented youngsters outside the top level.
The 20-year-old has made 38 appearances for Wolves so far this campaign, and he has become an established member of Kenny Jackett’s first team despite his tender years.
