Dimitri Payet hails West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic

West Ham United's Dimitri Payet has had a wonderful first season at charge at Upton Park.

Dimitri Payet has told Ligue 1’s official site that he is lucky to work with West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic at Upton Park.

Payet has had a wonderful first season in English football, and he was recently rewarded with a call-up to the French squad.

The attacking midfielder started for France in their fixture against Holland, which they won 3-2.

Payet put in a stand out display for Les Blues, and the 28-year-old says that his performance was down to the confidence that Bilic has given him.

“Right now, I'm lucky to have Slaven Bilic, who did everything to bring me to West Ham,” Payet said. “He has done everything that I flourish on the pitch.

"It was one of my most complete performances for France. I managed to have the same variety and impact as in my club, things that I hadn't managed to do before. I was confident when I got here, and I really wanted to enjoy it."

Bilic’s efforts to bring Payet to West Ham from Marseille last summer have certainly proven worthwhile.

The Hammers have put together a wonderful season, and they are currently competing for a top four place in the Premier League table.

Payet’s form has been a major reason behind West Ham’s excellence this term, and he has quickly become a fans’ favourite at Upton Park.

Payet has racked up 11 assists in 30 appearances for the Hammers this season, and he has also contributed 11 goals.
