Freddie Ladapo's move to Crystal Palace appears to be imminent.
Freddie Ladapo's transfer to Crystal Palace is close to being finalised.
The Eagles had a bid for the non-league striker rejected by Margate on Thursday, but HITC Sport understands Palace continued their pursuit undeterred.
Ladapo has been on trial at Palace over the past month, scoring a hat-trick to help the under-21 side to a 5-0 win over Watford.
Late last week Palace confirmed on their official club website that 18-year-old Corie Andrews has been loaned to Margate until the rest of the season, opening the door for Ladapo to move in the other direction.
At the weekend it was Andrews who started up front for Margate against Wealdstone, with Ladapo left out of the squad completely, despite featuring and scoring a week earlier in between trial matches for Palace.
All signs point to the 23-year-old sealing a dream switch to the Premier League side within days, with deals between Premier League and non-league sides permitted to take place outside the transfer window.
Palace boss Alan Pardew missed Ladapo's hat-trick in person as he was scouting Premier League opponents on the same evening, so the club arranged for the striker to feature in another trial game last week.
Ladapo hit the post in a 0-0 draw against Leeds under-21s, doing enough to convince Pardew he is worth taking a gamble on, beating several Football League sides to his signature.
