The Frenchman has been out of the picture recently.
Despite his good form it looked as though the summer signing from Marseille was going to be overlooked by France national boss Didier Deschamps.
But in the end he could not ignore the talent and form of the West Ham star.
Payet was called up to the France squad for games against Russia and against the Netherlands, a game which took place last night.
Dimitri Payet started the game against Holland, in a match that eventually finished 3-2 to Les Bleus.
Payet played the whole 90 minutes and impressed in the fixture.
Today, as France prepare to face Russia on Tuesday, Payet has been expressing his joy at returning to the French fold on his official Instagram account:
The fixture was Payet’s 16th cap for France and he will be hoping to add to that tally v Russia – and hopefully at Euro 2016 in his French home.
France won the game 3-2 after a late goal from Blaise Matuidi gave them the win. Earlier, goals from Antoine Griezmann and Olivier Giroud had been cancelled out by Luuk de Jong and Ibrahim Afellay.
