The midfielder was watching Algeria defeat Ethiopia 7-1 last night.
Tottenham Hotspur have had an excellent season so far and have done it all despite the absence of one of their first-team players.
Algerian midfielder Nabil Bentaleb has suffered with injury problems throughout the campaign.
He was out from August to November and has never really been at 100 per cent this term. With that in mind he has played just 11 times for Tottenham this season.
He won’t be playing for them again any time soon.
Bentaleb was recently ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on his left knee.
That meant he could not feature for the Algeria national team this month in international ties with Ethiopia.
But he revealed on his Instagram that he did attend the game between Algeria and Ethiopia yesterday, at the behest of his Desert Foxes team-mate Aissa Mandi. He would have enjoyed the game - as Algeria won 7-1.
He also had a message for Algeria fans, as he spoke about his desire to return to action as soon as possible:
Aissa Mandi made me travel. I will be back fighting in front of this audience it is an honour. All behind my DZ (Algeria) this evening.
Tottenham fans will know he is out for the rest of the season and his future at the club may very well hinge on his recovery.
Spurs have handled themselves pretty well without the midfielder and when he is fit again Bentaleb will have a major task on his hands to convince Spurs he is still a necessity.
