Southampton striker Graziano Pelle backs Antonio Conte for the Chelsea job

The Italian national coach is heavily linked with taking over at Stamford Bridge.

It is looking increasingly likely that Chelsea will be appointing Italian head coach Antonio Conte as their replacement for Jose Mourinho this summer.

The former Juventus manager has become the overwhelming favourite for the role and one Premier League striker who is backing him for the role is Southampton star Graziano Pelle.

Conte has got the best out of Pelle for the Italian national team and the Southampton player has backed him to be a success at Chelsea – should he get the role.

He is quoted as telling Rai Sport, as reported by TMW:

“Conte to Chelsea? The coach can do well in all leagues, will be welcome in the Premier League, I am convinced he will do well.

“If the board allow the coach to be himself, he is a born winner. He will not change his philosophy, will only have to change the language.”

Chelsea are of course looking for a new boss after dismissing Jose Mourinho earlier in the season. Chelsea were at the wrong end of the table under their legendary boss and Guus Hiddink has stepped in until the end of the season.

Chelsea are therefore currently behind Southampton and Pelle in the table – with the Italian recently finding his scoring form again with three goals in his last two games for the Saints.

With Chelsea needing a new striker in the summer, perhaps Conte will look to bring Pelle to London this summer.
