Report: Everton interested in summer move for Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton

Everton are reportedly keen on Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton are keeping tabs on Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton ahead of a possible summer move.

The Toffees have struggled defensively throughout the season, and with veteran goalkeeper Tim Howard leaving the club for Colorado Rapids this summer, manager Roberto Martinez will need to bring a new goalkeeper to challenge with current first choice stopper Joel Robles.

Now, the Liverpool Echo report that whilst Everton are keen on Ajax star Jasper Cillessen, they are also considering a move for Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton.

The 29-year-old, who is currently in the England squad as a third choice behind Jack Butland and Fraser Forster, has been superb for Burnley ever since his 2013 move from Bristol City, and established himself as one of the best English goalkeepers around.

Having come up through the ranks with Manchester United, Heaton has great pedigree and impressed during Burnley's Premier League campaign last season, and whilst many expected him to be snapped up by a top flight club, he instead chose to stay at Turf Moor and helped Sean Dyche's men in their pursuit for instant return to the Premier League.

That looks like being successful given that Burnley are top of the Premier League, but it's suggested that Everton are keen to tempt Heaton into a move to Goodison Park, whether the Clarets win promotion or not, with Martinez desperate to land a goalkeeper.
