Rangers: top 30 players: Number eight

Ralph Brand left Rangers before his 30th birthday but he spent the best years of his career at Ibrox to earn a permanent stay in the history books.

Ralph Brand is one of only six players to score over 200 goals for Rangers - an achievement that is likely to keep him in sixth place in the all-time list for at least another decade - but the Edinburgh-born forward will be remembered for the amount of honours he won as much as his strike-rate in front of goal.

Brand won 16 trophies at Ibrox during an 11-year period - which included seven league titles - but he holds a couple of records in the Scottish Cup that are unlikely to be beaten for some time.

The forward - who went on to represent Manchester City, Sunderland and Raith Rovers after the Gers - scored in four successive appearances in the Scottish Cup final, and when you include the League Cup, he never appeared on the losing team in seven domestic finals. The one blot on his copybook was only finishing as a runner-up in the 1961 Cup Winners Cup final.

Brand would leave the club in 1965 with a total of 206 goals in 317 matches in all competitions. He was unfortunate to only play eight times for the national team during the same period after scoring eight goals, although this didn't take anything away from what he achieved in Glasgow.
