Republic of Ireland warmed up for Euro 2016 with an impressive 1-0 win over Switzerland at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Friday night.
Martin O'Neill's men are gearing up to face Belgium, Italy and Sweden in France this summer, and picked up a solid win over Switzerland thanks to an early goal from Aston Villa defender Ciaran Clark.
O'Neill will have been pleased that his backline of Darren Randolph, Seamus Coleman, Shane Duffy, Clark and Robbie Brady managed to keep a clean sheet, as keeping a solid defence will be key to Ireland's hopes of progression at Euro 2016.
O'Neill also handed a chance to Aiden McGeady, with the winger now playing first-team football on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, having been frozen out at Everton.
The 29-year-old has failed to really hit the ground running at Wednesday, but is bidding to rescue his place in the Ireland squad for this summer, despite having racked up 80 caps for his country over the years.
On Friday, McGeady played 61 minutes before being replaced by Jonny Hayes, and it's fair to say that fans weren't impressed with his performance.
Ireland supporters took to Twitter during and after Friday's game to state that McGeady was ineffective throughout, and really think his place in O'Neill's squad is in danger unless he improves.
Here are some of the reactions from Ireland fans after McGeady's performance against Switzerland on Friday evening...
.....as serious as it appeared. McGeady was his usual ineffective self. How he maintains his place is beyond me. #COYBIG— Paul Fitzsimons (@Scratchy6) March 25, 2016
Based on tonight I don't think there will be many Ireland fans losing any sleep if McGeady doesn't make the Euros squad.— James O'Donoghue (@odonoghuejames) March 25, 2016
Aiden McGeady's 467th international cap will be remembered as fondly as 99 per cent of those that went before.— Joe Callaghan (@JoeCallaghan84) March 25, 2016
BREAKING: Aiden McGeady still lacks end product #IREvSWI— Ciarán Delaney (@ThisIsCiaran) March 25, 2016
Few things from 1st half: Duffy is the real deal. McGeady playing regular 1st team fball still isn't that good. Brady still not a LB #IRESUI— Johnathan Kelly (@_JohnnyKelly) March 25, 2016
Versatile McGeady proving he can be equally rubbish on either wing #IREvSWI— Ripley Trout (@RipleyTrout) March 25, 2016
McGeady's performance so far tonight reminds me a lot of Ali Dia's debut for Southampton. #IREvSWI— Niall Waters (@niallwaters) March 25, 2016
I thought McGeady went to Sheffield Wednesday to get sharp? He looks like he hasn't played football in months. #IREvSWI— Niall Waters (@niallwaters) March 25, 2016
What did you think about McGeady's performance against Switzerland?
